Piece 1706 – Salt-Fired Wild Clay Vessel with Metallic Sheen
Couldn't load pickup availability
This one-of-a-kind sculptural vessel is made entirely from wild clay, shaped by hand and fired in a salt atmosphere at Cone 10. The intense firing process created a dramatic transformation—resulting in a shimmering, metallic surface and rich gradients of dark bronze, ash gray, and obsidian black.
This piece showcases deep textural ridges, cratered surface blisters, and a flowing glassy skin along the rim—evidence of both the salt vapor’s interaction with the clay and the natural materials embedded within it. Its geological appearance and reflective finish make it feel like a remnant of a volcanic eruption or unearthed artifact.
Whether placed solo or holding a dried arrangement, Piece 1706 is designed to invite pause and curiosity.
