Piece 1703 – Textured Wild Clay Vessel with Lake Erie Inclusions
Couldn't load pickup availability
This vessel carries a grounded, uneven strength—coils of Virginia’s wild red clay pressed together by hand and infused with dark crushed grit, sieved directly from the shoreline of Lake Erie. Fired to cone 10 in an electric kiln, the piece features a richly textured surface with organic imperfections, deep cracking, and embedded black grit that speaks of land and process.
The form narrows slightly at the base, creating a top-heavy profile that feels both ancient and intuitive. It functions beautifully as a sculptural object or to hold dried botanicals, incense, or found sticks. Every inclusion and crack tells part of the earth’s story.
