Piece 1,697 – Ash-Glazed Wild Clay Vessel with Metallic Crust
Couldn't load pickup availability
Forged from wild clay and kissed by flame, this vessel features a naturally cascading ash glaze that dances across the surface in layers of molten green, silvery blue, and volcanic black. Its metallic crust and bubbled surface speak to the raw chemistry of high-heat transformation via saltfiring. The form retains the irregular build of hand-formed clay while the glaze adds a wet, fossil-like sheen — as if pulled from deep within the earth.
This handmade piece is #1,697 in my journey toward 10,000. My hands are 1,697x more familiar with the touch of clay than when I started this project — and each vessel carries a piece of that learning.
