I've been thinking a lot about gradual transitions from base to lip. This piece reflects that—organic shifts in form and texture as they rise. This particular clay surprised me with how prone it was to s-cracking. I hadn’t worked with it much before and had been generous in keeping the bottom thick, assuming that would be a safe approach. Turns out, it had other ideas. The material’s response has me reconsidering how I handle thickness and drying, pushing me to adapt my process further.
