Ceramic Piece 1611

This piece reflects my recent shift in mindset—stepping back from intentional design (within reason) and allowing the process to dictate the form. It’s funny how trying to mimic natural geological layering can feel like an oxymoron, like forcing something meant to be effortless. To counter that, I worked directly with this clay, placing it on wood as a foundation. I threw the form, then took it apart, pressing it into wild clay-covered wood to capture the raw textures before reassembling it. The result is something that feels more discovered than created—formed by interaction rather than intention.
