Made from dug up local red clay in Virginia. Fired to cone 10 in electric
This piece was made from local red clay in Virginia. It has a raw, earthy aesthetic that emphasizes the natural qualities of the wild clay used. The body is a rich, unglazed reddish-brown with a rough, textured surface that retains the rawness of the material. The top portion appears vitrified, darkened, and glossy, from a liner glaze. The contrast between the rough lower section and the smoother, glazed-like upper section highlights the transformation that occurs in the electric firing process.
The form itself is organic, slightly irregular, and asymmetrical, embodying the unrefined beauty of wild clay while also reflecting a deep connection to the material.
